Jisu Kim
MS @ GT Interactive Computing
Prospective PhD student
Hi there! I’m an AI Engineer at FlexTecs, and I’m currently applying to PhD programs for Fall 2026.
I recently completed my master’s at
Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech, where I was fortunate to be advised by
Ashok Goel and
Richmond Wong.
I also collaborated closely with
Christopher J. MacLellan and
Brian Magerko.
I hold a double major in
KAIST School of Computing and
KAIST College of Business, where I was advised by
Juho Kim.
AI in cognitive work does more than automate tasks. It alters the memories that we would have formed by
doing the work ourselves. The processes of thinking, exploring, and learning are meaningful in their own right.
Such processes create memories of effort and growth that contribute to a grounded sense of self. Yet many
current AI tools focus on producing complete outputs, often bypassing these processes. My research aims to
design human–AI interactions that expand, rather than replace, memory-forming experiences. In particular, I
(1) study how people think and reflect during AI-assisted learning and knowledge work, and (2) develop interactive
AI systems that scaffold these processes.
During my master’s and bachelor’s studies, I gained industry experience as an ML engineer/Data Scientist at
Tesla (2024),
Samsung SDS (2021), and
Samsung Research (2020).
My master’s research was supported by a
Georgia Tech Graduate Research Assistant Scholarship.
My bachelor's study was fully supported by the
Korea Student Aid Foundation's National Scholarship.
I like uncertainty, serendipity, and narrativity.
